US ISP IPv6 support › AT&T

Does AT&T support IPv6?

Yes. AT&T Fiber and AT&T Internet provide native dual-stack IPv6 alongside IPv4, and the AT&T gateway enables it by default.

How AT&T delivers IPv6

Getting IPv6 on your own router

  1. Set the AT&T gateway to IP Passthrough for your router, then set the router’s WAN to DHCPv6 (sometimes labelled “Native” or “Automatic”).
  2. Enable DHCPv6 prefix delegation on the router’s WAN and request a /64. The gateway hands out /64 subnets from its own prefix; asking for a larger prefix such as /60 usually gets no IPv6 at all.
  3. Restart the router after enabling passthrough so it requests a new IPv6 lease.

If the test finds no IPv6

About these numbers

The measured rate is the share of connectivity tests on this site, run from AT&T connections in the United States, in which IPv6 worked. Source: AT&T fixed-line network AS7018. Tests are counted, not people, so someone who tests several times is counted several times; no IP addresses are stored. A rate below 100% usually means some customers have IPv6 switched off on their router or use a router that does not request IPv6, not that the network lacks IPv6.
